The EurekAlert! Travel Awards for International Science Reporters support excellence in science journalism globally, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. Through the program, EurekAlert! provides travel funding and support to early-career science, technology, and health journalists to attend the AAAS Annual Meeting, where they can access opportunties to cover the latest research and network with peers from around the world. Applications for the 2026 EurekAlert! Travel Awards are open to early-career science journalists and, for the first time, student journalists enrolled at an accredited university from the following countries:
- Albania
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Czechia
- Estonia
- Greece
- Hungary
- Kosovo
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Moldova
- Montenegro
- North Macedonia
- Poland
- Romania
- Serbia
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Ukraine
Applicants must have no more than five (5) years of professional science journalism experience or be currently enrolled in a journalism program at an accredited university in order to be eligible for the travel award. Winners will receive travel funding to attend the 2027 AAAS Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Working proficiency in English is highly recommended.
